Midwifery Support with Sophie

£250.00

£850/£1250

Sophie offers additional midwifery support for parents during pregnancy and the postnatal period which can be face-to-face or over Zoom depending on your location.

You have the option during pregnancy of seeing a private midwife for your appointments, but lots of people like to have a hybrid of care. If you are happy with still seeing your NHS midwife throughout pregnancy and having your ultrasounds/blood tests through the NHS but would also like some more personalised care with someone who has more time to answer all of your questions - this option is for you.

What does this look like in practice?

You will have access to Sophie (a midwife) on WhatsApp from 9am - 8pm every day for any questions/worries/niggles from whenever you book until 28 days after your baby is born. On top of this you get check-ins either weekly if you book at 28 weeks or every 2 weeks throughout your pregnancy from early pregnancy/12 weeks. These last at least an hour, so no rushing through things! This allows you to build a relationship, discuss what’s going on in your pregnancy and allows you to have all of the questions you have during your pregnancy answered promptly and thoroughly. If you need resources they will be sent over and you can also discuss any blood tests or scans you’ve had if needed. You can also discuss options/choices that come up throughout your pregnancy and the sessions/ongoing WhatsApp support covers any birth or postnatal preparation you need. After your baby is born, Sophie is on hand on Whatsapp for any postnatal/feeding queries and on Zoom/in person for postnatal support.

What is Sophie’s experience as a midwife?

I have worked as a midwife in all areas of the maternity system in the NHS and I do regular shifts on birth centre to keep up to date on antenatal, postnatal and labour care. I totally understand the frustration that lots of parents feel at the rushed appointments they experience during pregnancy and also the frustration that midwives feel at not being able to spend the time they want to with parents. I have lots of experience teaching antenatal courses, having started The Village Midwife in Bucks nearly 6 years ago and I have built a huge community of parents since, which I love!

Is it on Zoom or in person?

If you’re within 30 minutes of Wendover, Buckinghamshire you can choose the in person option which is £1250 but anyone (worldwide!) can choose the Zoom/Whatsapp support option which is £850. Even if you choose the in-person option - we can flex onto Zoom if you’re unwell or on holiday for example.

Can I pay in installments?

Absolutely, you can pay in installments for anything at The Village Midwife and you can also access The Village Midwife Accessibility Fund if finances are challenging.

Can I do this as well as an antenatal course with you?

Yes! The reason I’ve started offering this is because of antenatal clients who asked me about this type of option but lots of people still want to do an antenatal course to meet a great local group of friends having a baby at the same time as them.

Do you offer postnatal support?

This option includes 2 postnatal sessions to help with feeding/postnatal recovery/sleep but if you want more - we can arrange this.

Do you offer birth/labour care?

Although not part of this option, I can in specific circumstances - email me for more information on this.

How do I book this?

You can book this using the form below with a deposit and then we can arrange a first appointment. If you have any questions you can also email me at sophie@thevillagemidwife.co.uk
