Postnatal Support Sessions (1:1 at your home)

This is where I can offer support with feeding or baby care, help you using slings/carriers plus often parents find it helpful to discuss your birth experience. As a midwife, I can also help with any postnatal concerns or questions about your recovery that might come up.

You can book this in advance and then once baby is here just drop me a WhatsApp and we can sort out a time for me to pop round or you can book this postnatally. Contact me for a link to my booking calendar!

The postnatal support session might last 1.5-2.5 hours depending on what you need!

2 hour Postnatal Visit booked separately: £70 for antenatal clients, £85 for non-antenatal clients for one session

Sophie is so kind and selfless, giving advice at the end of the phone whenever you need it

Preparation for feeding (plus support in the postnatal period)

£150

Lots of people ask me for help preparing for feeding their baby, a common source of anxiety! I offer a daytime session to discuss what you want to do with regards to feeding your baby (usually near the end of your pregnancy) and we can talk through any previous experiences you have, which can be helpful. We can talk through how to get breastfeeding off to a great start. how milk supply works, how to best attach baby to the breast and common issues that can come up.

I am then on hand for any feeding support via WhatsApp for the first 6 weeks where I can answer any questions - sometimes people find it helpful to create a WhatsApp group between you, your partner and myself. I can also pop in (if you’re local to Prestwood, Buckinghamshire or Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire) and help with any support you need.

If you are struggling financially, please note I have a bursary set aside for postnatal feeding support - no questions asked.

I raved about her so much to anyone who would listen (and still do!) that when I was talking about her to one of my friends, she asked me, “is this the magic baby lady?” Go see Sophie, do her courses, they are worth their weight in gold. Particularly if you’re feeling anxious, she’ll make you feel like you’re the warrior mummy you’re about to become, even if you don’t feel it yet! After all, she is the magic baby lady! Thank you Sophie!

1:1 Babywearing consultations

Sophie and the Babywearing consultants from the South Bucks Sling & Nappy Library offer 1:1 consultations at your home. These are usually 90 minutes for £75 and can be either during pregnancy to prepare for your new baby or with your baby/older child. You can also get support via the sling library as the meets are free to attend however they are busy! If you want to go through lots of options or have a specific need e.g. twins, back carrying or just want 1:1 support with Babywearing for more than 10/15 minutes, this would be a more appropriate option.

If you want more general information you can either join us on a postnatal course for a 2 hour sling session, book a sling session for you and a group of friends/antenatal group at one off your homes, or join us for a group Babywearing workshop!

Birth Debrief

2-3 hour session: £80

A birth debrief session gives you the chance to talk about your birth experience with me in a safe, supportive space. We can go through what happened, step by step which can help you process what happened and talk about how you felt during birth and how you’re feeling now.

Often the unanswered questions we have about our birth experience can make it harder for our brains to process it. Being able to talk it through with a midwife who is experienced in supporting parents with birth trauma can be hugely valuable. I can use my experience as a midwife to help you understand anything from your birth that you might want to understand further.

If it would be helpful, you can also request your notes from the hospital you gave birth at and we can use these to help - however this is not necessary.

I offer these sessions to partners as well as mums - or for both of you at the same time. I can come to your home, meet somewhere else, meet on Zoom or walk and talk if that is easiest!

We went to Sophie for 1-1 hypnobirthing with our second child, following a traumatic birth with our first and a stressful pregnancy. Sophie was amazing! She spent so much time trying to understand our experience with our first child and reassure us, and it was like talking to a friend with the benefit of having years of medical experience. Sophie gave me the confidence to ask questions and push for a birth plan I felt comfortable with, which made me feel so much more relaxed about doing it again. She had endless tips and tricks to keep me calm and focused in the lead up to, and during, labour, and was also available to contact with questions outside of our booked sessions and following the birth of our son. I would 100% recommend her to everyone and wish we had done her antenatal course with our firstborn!

 3 Step Rewind

2x 2 hour sessions: £160

3 Step Rewind is a technique for people who have difficult or complex feelings about their pregnancy, birth or feeding experience. Particularly after we experience birth trauma, it's common to feel 'stuck' in that moment which can impact our mental health. The 3 Step Rewind technique that I've trained in helps you to move past that experience and not feel so stuck in it, and to be able to move forward with more positive feelings. It's a very gentle technique which has amazing results, and the beauty of it is that you don't even need to share your story out loud if you don't want to.

However, I also combine this with a birth debrief as an independent midwife if that would be helpful for you. Sometimes the combination of being able to understand more fully what happened and then being able to help your mind process it better and distance yourself from the strong emotions you associate with it (using 3 step rewind) can be especially effective. I teach this in person or over Zoom - whatever is easiest for you!
