Hello, I’m Sophie! I’m a qualified NHS midwife passionate about empowering birthing people through education. I currently work in both local community settings and on the labour ward, meaning I provide personalised, evidence-based care to families in pregnancy, labour, birth, and postnatally. I’m lucky to be able to support some families on their journey through all of these exciting and nerve-wracking stages.
When I first started my midwifery training four years ago, my first learning pledge was to deliver individualised, person-centred care with compassion. This has become the cornerstone of my midwifery practice.
Outside of midwifery, I love spending time with my mum, my niece and nephew, and my incredible circle of friends. I am surrounded and supported by fantastic women who champion one another endlessly. I enjoy cooking, hosting long dinners with friends, and trying new crafts like embroidery and lino-cutting.
A few years ago, I adopted a stray cat who is bonkers and entertains me no end. I have a houseplant addiction and cannot walk past a ‘reduced to clear’ section without hoping I can rescue and resurrect a pile of sticks into something green and blossoming, and I’m fast running out of windowsills…
I’m so excited to be working with Sophie and the other midwives at The Village Midwife. I look forward to sharing information and skills in a safe, non-judgmental space, equipping you and your birth partners to confidently weigh up options, make decisions about your care, and advocate for yourselves and one another. I can’t wait to meet you!

Sophie is currently only teahcing 1:1 courses due to her NHS availability so you have a few options:
A 1-1 course in your home, personalised to you. This is usually over 6 or 9 hours dependent on what you want to cover
Alternatively, if you have a group of friends and would like to organise a group course with Sophie at one of your homes, this is also a possibility!
Sophie also teaches about active birth and biomechanics plus hypnobirthing - which can be included in 1-1 courses at your home
Send us an email at robyn@thevillagemidwife.co.uk for more info on these options or to book a course with Sophie
-
The price of 1-1 courses varies according to how much you want to cover. Some people want to just focus on birth options whereas others want to cover feeding and postnatal prep as well which takes slightly longer.
1-1 courses are usually around £50/hour but drop us an email and we can discuss a price based on what you want to cover with Sophie and how long we estimate that will take!
-
Sophie also runs group postnatal courses. The dates and content are tailored to the antenatal mums that she’s met who have recently had babies!
You can find out more here or drop Sophie an email at sophieg@thevillagemidwife.co.uk for more info
Hi! I’m Sophie!
“My husband and I finished our course a few weeks ago with Sophie. We learnt A LOT and we’re now feeling prepared for birth and beyond! Her knowledge is second to none and filled us with complete confidence. Sophie’s communication style is so lovely, always listened and understood our wishes, and gave her honest and invaluable advice where asked. It almost felt like we were having a chat with a close friend, we trust her completely. The passion for her job and creating the best outcomes for families just shines through. We really appreciate her continued support through email and WhatsApp, she checks in every so often out of her own kindness… we are just praying that she will be on shift when I give birth! ”
